International law firm, Dorsey & Whitney, announced this week the addition of a valuable new member to their cannabis law practice group.
With a name that sounds almost too good to be true for the cannabis industry, Sativa Rasmussen, has left Lane Powell to join Dorsey in their Seattle offices. Rasmussen previously joined Lane Powell back in Sep. 2018.
The addition of Rasmussen brings their cannabis law team’s headcount to 26 attorneys. But Rasmussen is more focused on the cannabis industry than some of the others on their roster, as it has been her primary focus for at least 4 years.
From the Press Release:
“Ms. Rasmussen serves as the Chair-Elect for the Cannabis Law Section of the Washington State Bar Association, which she founded in 2016.”
Ms. Rasmussen counsels cannabis businesses from startups to established market leaders on a wide range of corporate and regulatory needs. She advises clients on entity formation and structuring, financings, and acquiring and disposing of businesses. She has extensive experience tracking and navigating the complex and constantly evolving matrix of federal, state and local regulations related to both marijuana and hemp, and frequently speaks on these topics both domestically and internationally.”
Their Seattle team is growing and it’s interesting to see Big Law making moves as the race for cannabis legal talent heats up. 🔥
