The country’s first cannabis industry college course is now open to students.
Long Beach City College will host this breakthrough academic offering in conjunction with the Long Beach Collective Association. The class falls under their “Job Training” category of courses. It’s a practical course akin to one that might be offered at a trade school.
The lead instructor will be top cannabis industry lawyer, Joe Rogoway of Rogoway Law – a cannabis industry focused law firm with offices in Los Angeles, San Francisco and Santa Ana.
The course is designed to prepare those who are interested for a career in the cannabis industry.
From the Long Beach City College description of the course:
Introduction to the Cannabis Industry is an eight-week course that covers all sectors of the industry from cultivation to retail. The course will introduce a new group of students to the cannabis industry while helping seasoned professionals enhance their understanding of the industry, including its heavy regulation. Students will also benefit from the course’s regional focus, with an overview of the history of cannabis in California and the state’s track-and-trace system for cannabis products from plants to consumers’ hands.
Rogoway told the Long Beach Business Journal, “This is long overdue. This is the kind of curriculum that should have been developed long ago.”
The courses will be taught over Zoom conference calls starting on September 28th. To learn more visit the Long Beach City College Course page here.
